Kira's POV

I clutched my book to my chest as I walked like my life was over. I didn't care if people stared at me. I didn't just see the need to hide my misery. Austin had ghosted for a whole day since he found out I was his mate. He probably couldn't come to terms with me being his mate. I couldn't tell if it was his ego or if he was scared of something. Whichever it was, I wished he would tell me to my face once and for all, and I'd just move on with my life.

Speaking of the devil, Austin was right in front of me, approaching me, but I didn't act like I saw him. I wanted to walk past him but he held me back. His eyes were soft almost as if he was pleading with me to listen to what he had to say.

I wanted to ignore him, but Anabelle was as stubborn as me. “What is it Austin?" I asked with a casual demeanor when in a real sense, I was dying on the inside.

“I want to talk to you" he sounded too demanding, I hated it.

“You are speaking to me now"

“Not here, can we..."
