I looked at Melody as she curled up on the guestroom bed, her eyes fixed on one spot. She didn't even move as I entered, nor did she spare me a glance. Whatever was going on in her head must have been heavy and mind-boggling.

"Have you been sitting there since I left an hour ago?" Melody didn't even stir, making my forehead crease.

"Melody?" I closed the distance between us and shook her gently.

"Dra-ven?" She blinked, shaking her head a few times.

"What is it, Mel? I have been trying to talk to you for the last minute, but you didn't even notice my arrival." I sat on the bed beside her, snaking my arm around her waist as we leaned on the headboard.

"I'm sorry about that, I just have a lot going on in my mind." Her voice had no liveliness; it was flat, without any emotion. It was like she was numb, and I couldn't help but feel her state had something to do with Mason.

"You know you can talk to me, right? I know I scared you yesterday, but I swear I didn't mean to hurt you."
