Tender Love and Care

"Who started it?" Joan asked as she put an ice pack on Cole's swollen cheek. Aside from his godly face that she adored, even the perfect body that she loved to ogle on was also bruised. 

Joan wasn't pleased at all. She repeated, "Did Chris punch first?"

He cleared his throat and revealed, "No. I did. I punched him first."

Her mouth fell open, and she smacked him in the leg, "Why did you do that?"

A gasp escaped his lips, and he told, "Chris, he - he said something I did not like."

"He was drunk. He reeked of alcohol. Cole, for God's sake, you should have just left," said Joan as she returned to dub against his face. 

"You - you don't understand. What he said was below the belt," declared Cole. "But I'm not going to tell you."

"If you are not telling me, then it only means it was about me," said Joan. From angry, her face turned into worry. She said, "What if you got badly hurt?"

"I covered myself the best way I can,"

I think that after Chris and Cole had admitted to each other about their feelings for Joan I think that neither one should have pursued her they should have left her alone

I see why Chris don’t go after Joan 10 years ago because he didn’t want to ruin his friendship with Cole because he knew Cole had feelings for Joan but it seems to me that Cole and Joan are the selfish ones because they don’t care about the friendship between Chris and Cole
