Amarah sat beside Clayton at the Langston’s dinner table with her hands gripping the napkin she placed on her lap. She was staring blankly at her plate and only was shaken out of her reverie when he placed a hand on her shoulder gently to get her attention.
She looked up at him warily.
“Would you like some vegetables to go with the chicken?” He asked with a smile.
“Chicken?!” She returned and she finally noticed that Clayton have placed a piece of chicken on her plate along with some potatoes. “Oh, yes. Please. Not too much though.”
Clayton nodded and served her a spoonful on her plate.
“Thank you,” she said calmly.
“How do you find living in the pack so far, Amarah?” Mr. Langston asked politely. “Are you adjusting well? Do let Clayton know if you’re finding it difficult, okay? I’m sure it’s not going to be an easy thing for you.”

Amarah opened her eyes at something tickling her on the face. She suddenly sat up straight when she saw that the sky is already light blue and white clouds slowly filling it, realizing that it’s already dawn. She looked around frantically and gathered that she must have fallen asleep when she took a rest from walking back home last night. She braced one hand on the ground and gently stood up and finally taking off her other sandal, holding both on one hand as she slowly walked back the road, clutching her jacket tightly around herself. She then made her way back to the central grounds, limping and stopping from time to time when she felt some discomfort on her ankle. Her stomach suddenly grumbled, and Amarah remembered that she hadn’t eaten well from last night’s dinner due to the hostility she felt from Clayton’s mom.“Stop thinking, Mari,” she scolded herself loudly as events from last night came back. She shook her head to
Clayton nodded as he walked through the crowd, who are going towards the open grounds, which he had previously made a picnic area during weekends on a late Friday afternoon. He smiled as families passed by with the young pups getting excited and bringing some of their favorite toys.He finally reached the pack’s learning center and he proceeded to one classroom and stopped by the open doorway. He looked inside and watched as Lily meticulously arranged the books stacked on the table beside her back in the shelves along one wall.“Hey.” He called out softly and immediately noticed her gripping the book she is holding.Apparently, Lily is still mad at him for what he did with Matt.“Why are you here, Alpha?” She addressed formally without turning to him. She took another book and scanned through the row and inserted it in one section. “If you’re looking for Amarah, let me tell you that Matt is back at my home and cur
“Elise, look at me!” Matt’s voice ordered over the noise. He was kneeling in front of her while Amarah is beside him, ready to assist once he needs it. A chair with a basin of warm water and towels are beside her and a small table with the heating lamp Clayton took from his room. “Listen to my voice, okay? Just my voice. You’ll get to listen to your husband’s irritating voice for the rest of your life but right now, it’s my voice you should follow.”“Why you -,” Liam scoffed but Clayton held him tightly.Amarah bit her lip to keep from smiling. She knew Matt’s strategy and it is to turn Elise’s attention away from the pain she is currently experiencing.“I don’t want this anymore!” Elise wailed.“You can blame your husband after everything is over,” Amarah answered as she gripped Elise’s other hand gently. “Men, right?! They always think they&
Word about Amarah and Matt saving the wife and son of The Night Howlers Pack Beta, had spread like wildfire around the pack and its neighboring territories. Members from different allied packs had started flocking towards Clayton’s territory with extreme conditions, to seek their medical help.“I-I don’t think I can face them,” Amarah said with hesitation on her face. She looked outside the window from Clayton’s office. She saw a huge crowd in front of the health center, clamoring for her and Matt. “They will back off the moment they see me.”Clayton walked around his table and pulled her towards the couch and sat down with her. It was two weeks from the night she saved Elise and her baby together with Matt. Word got around the pack over what happened that night and it didn’t take long for the news to spread. For the first few days, only a few came, and Constance was able to tend to them as well as Matt.Matt, who
Amarah looked out from her window and stared down as the pack members started to gather around the open grounds on the much-awaited night of The Transformation Ceremony. She watched with bitterness in her when she caught sight of the members that will be transforming. They are now garbed in their grey with silver lining robes and the scholars in charge of overseeing them are checking on them one last time to make sure that they are in order. They all looked eager, excited, and proud. She heard a knock on her door, and she opened it a bit.“Ella,” she said warmly, remembering the girl she had helped one time at the mess hall. She opened her door wider, and the girl immediately went inside, bringing a tray of food for her. “You didn’t have to do this.”“Alpha Clayton gave instructions to have a special dinner made for you,” Ella answered formally. “Please do let me know if you need anything else, Ms. Amarah.&r
Amarah finally pulled away from her grand uncle’s embrace and took a step back, looking up at him and feeling relief sweeping through her body.“Good to see you looking well,” Gabriel commented seriously. “Are they treating you well there?”“Most of them,” she answered softly.“You don’t lie well, Amarah,” he responded with a slight stern look. “Your father should have thought you how to lie naturally. Do you have the pendant with you that I had Kate given to you?”She nodded as she showed him the cloth bag.“I can only identify the moonstones,” she said softly as she placed it on her palm. “What are these other seven stones?”Gabriel took it from his hand, looking at it wistfully.“Stones that will assist you in having a deeper connection with your wolf,” he finally answered. He looked at her calmly. “I don’t know i
Clayton gripped Amarah’ s upper arms tightly, pushing her towards the wall on one side of her room. He looked down at her angrily, his temper getting the best of him as he recalled the dread that took over him when he destroyed the lock of the door to her room and found it empty. The moment the Transformation Ceremony was done, he spent an hour with his members as the pack gave them a party in celebration of their transformation before excusing himself to go to Amarah and spend the rest of the night with her. He felt his heart tugged when he managed to look up as the ceremony was starting and saw her looking out at her window and gave him a short wave. Before he transformed into Kragen, he looked up again and only saw a dimly lit room from her window, guessing she must have decided to sleep. However, when he knocked on her door and didn’t get any response from her, he immediately kicked the door open, his heart beating furiously and in fear, millions of things runnin
Clayton handed Liam back all the reports and payables he had signed the following day. He leaned back on his chair and rubbed his eyes, trying to remove the sleep he barely got from sleeping beside Amarah.“From what I know, I’m the one who should be doing what you’re doing,” Liam drawled with a grin, closing the door of the office after handing out the documents to a waiting member outside. He took a seat across from him. “What’s going on, man? You didn’t stay up late last night at the party. And, when I got home, I was the one who fed Logan.”“I slept with Amarah,” Clayton replied calmly.“Congratulations, then,” Liam immediately replied. “Shall we be expecting a wedding, soon?”Clayton gave his good friend a dark frown. “We just slept, that’s all. Or more like, she was the only one who had a good sleep,” Clayton snapped lightly. “If I let Kragen
