Dangerous Encounters

The word run had just left my mouth when the door was broken down by three wolves. None of them were Max. 

They tore poor Kevin into shreds and ate the evidence. Which was making me feel a bit sick and woosey, until I realized I had just taken a bite out of Kevin not too long ago. Max would be proud of me. I could feel my confidence climbing but the reality of Max not being my knight in shining armor brought me crashing back down to earth. 

I was standing by the door, sniffing the air for his warm scent that I knew as home. All I got was stale beer and truckers in need of good deodorant. Yuck.
