LOST

“I think we’ve lost them,” Marco said after about more than an hour of driving around.

“What do we do now?” I asked. I tried to make my voice casual as if I was not scared. And I might have succeeded because Marco replied without mentioning my current emotion out loud.

“We will have to refill your gas and buy something to eat then we will wait for nightfall so I can send you safely home,” he said.

We did all he mentioned as we waited for dark to come as if it will keep us hidden from the eyes of whoever were the people after Marco. But we did not stay in one spot the whole time. Marco would not let his guard down. He was like an eagle keenly watching the surroundings and anything he noticed to be suspicious, he would start to drive away.

I also saw him trying to open other cars hoping the owners left them unlocked in the parking area, but he must have failed to find one and we arrived home riding the same car I own, my second-hand silver sedan.
