Chapter 1

Cole's PoV

Monday 7th January 2019

————————————————

Today is the first day back at school after Christmas and honestly I'm not mentally prepared. I look like pure shit because I woke up at half six so I could walk to my best friend's house on time for school, and now I'm five minutes away from my personal hell. School. The teachers here all hate their jobs and make it their mission to make all the students miserable. The building itself is always freezing in the winter and boiling in the summer. The uniforms we have to wear are the worst! The material they are made from is uncomfortable and does nothing to keep me warm but makes me overheat in the summer.

Basically I hate school.

I take a long drag from my cigarette and exhale the burning smoke I've become addicted to over the years. Lacey, my best friend since primary school, glares at me for accidentally blowing the smoke in her direction.

"Just because you smell like shit today doesn't mean I want to. So kindly keep that stuff away from me," she warns while pulling out perfume and spraying herself a few times. I can't help but laugh at her dramatic fanning at the air around her.

"Calm down drama queen, I'll put it out now, see?" I chuckle as I stamp out the burning butt.

We walk in a comfortable silence until we get to the front gates of school where tired students file in to get an education. I whine in protest as Lacey holds my hand and drags me through the gates and down the short path to the front doors. I notice the whole place looks just as crap as it did before the Christmas break.

"Come on Cole! We have to get our new timetables so we can see which fucking classroom we are at in ten minuets," Lacey says as we weave through the grumpy kids filling the halls. We head on our way to the reception desk where we can pick up our all important time tables.

"Names?" Asks the old man sat at the light grey desk.

"Cole McCall and Lacey Derwent," I reply in my voice that clearly displays my distaste of being here. The skinny man doesn't even reply to me, he just rummages through a few papers and hands us the two with our names plastered across the top.

"Thank you," says Lacey in a chirpy voice as we leave the desk.

"We have a new English teacher?" I ask to no one in particular.

"Mr Murray, that's a boring name. I say he's mid forties, thinning hair, wife that hates him and kids that moved out as soon as they could. Maybe an alcoholic," theorises Lacey as we walk off to the class that Mr Murray teaches. I can't help but laugh at her theory because it's probably true, it is with most other teachers here.

I swing open the door to my new English class and glance around the room for my new teacher.

"Sweet baby Jesus he is hot!" Lacey gasps. I swear my jaw hit the floor.

The sexy specimen sat at the desk at the front of the room was gorgeous. His light brown hair is perfect with his slightly tanned skin. His bottom lip is gently clutched between his teeth as his eyes scan over the computer screen. Black glasses frame his face and I'd be lying if I said they don't make him even more hot. He has neatly trimmed stubble that is the same colour as his hair and to be honest he looks sexy as hell.

He sees us stood in the doorway and raises an eyebrow, probably wondering why we are just stood staring at him. Me and Lacey sit at one of the double desks near the back so we can talk, hopefully without being noticed.

"Since when did our school hire hot teachers?" I ask Lacey, basically drooling at the sight of the muscular man who has now stood up and is giving us a mouthwatering view of him in a tight suit.

"Good morning class, I'm Mr Murray and I'll be your new English teacher until the end of the year. Open your books and get ready to start," says Mr Murray in a deep voice that makes shivers run down my spine.

I try my best to focus on the work we are meant to be doing but when he takes off his suit jacket and roles up his sleeves, I'm a goner.

"It's impossible for anyone to be that good looking," Lacey says wistfully, her head tilted and a huge smile on her face. I can't say anything though, I probably look just as star struck.

"Do you think he's gay?" I ask and turn to my best friend.

"I hope not, otherwise I'll have no chance with him," she mumbles.

"What if he has a fit friend you can get with?"

"Maybe I'll let you get with him then, but his friend has to be equally as fit."

"Of course, I wouldn't have it any other way."

"Do you two think you should be talking during my lesson?" Says Mr Murray sarcastically from bedside our desk. I hadn't even noticed he'd walked over. I'm glad he did though because he smells so good. All the kids in the classroom turn around to watch how this will play out.

"Sorry sir," Lacey apologises. Mr Murray turns to me expectantly, probably wanting me to say sorry also. When I don't say anything his body straightens out and his arms fold over his chest.

"Detention during lunch with me," he says, obviously annoyed with me.

"That's not fair! I was only talking for a while!" I argue back, not caring about the consequences of it.

"After school detention then," he says and his voice tells me that it's final, but I have to push my luck, don't I?

"Bullshit," I say under my breath.

"Don't push it," he warns and walks back to the front off the class. Of course I watch his ass as he leaves because hot damn it's a nice ass.

You know, maybe school won't be so bad this year.
