Scarlett's POV

I froze in my tracks, my heart pounding in my chest as the rustling in the bushes grew louder. Fear gripped me tightly, and I called out with a quiver in my voice, "Who is there?"

As the figures emerged from the shadows, my breath caught in my throat. It was them—the same men I had seen earlier, with the unmistakable tattoo that tied them to the traitor. How had they found me? The realization struck me, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of dread. The danger I had feared was now standing before me.
