Chapter Forty-Six: Violet

"Violet!" Jones shouted with a smile as he broke away from the group that he was standing in and ran over to meet me halfway. He was faster than I expected, and I released a short scream when he threw me over his shoulder, causing my backpack to smack me upside the head as he spun me around. "We won!" He yelled, referring to the away game they had just returned from.

"That's awesome, Lenny. Now put me down!" I laughed as I began to squirm in his arms to be free.

"Did you just call me Lenny?" He stopped spinning as he asked with confusion before he moved toward the group of men he had been talking to before.

"Yeah, you know, from Of Mice and Men?" The silence from him but the laughter from the group of people confirmed my suspicion that he had no idea what I was talking about. "Oh, come on! It's a classic! Don't they make everyone read it in high school?"
