Alex's POV

(…a hidden curse)

“Son”, the Alpha called out to Alex from the passenger’s seat—he sat beside the driver, “Are you also of the popular notion that my judgements are too brutal?”

Alex thought for a second, before replying, “No, father. I’ve never known you to be partial. Whatever an offender receives from you must have been duly deserved”

“I’m surprised to hear that from you. Your reaction to my verdict at the dungeon said otherwise”, the Alpha remarked, returning Alex’s glance in the rare mirror. “We have a pending discussion, son”, since your mother wouldn’t tell me, I’ll love to hear directly from you”

Alex’s heart had begun its usual sprint. It happens mostly when the Alpha spoke suspenseful.

“If you could remember, during the days of my brief illness, I asked a question. I still await your reply.”
