Jane.

I’m thrilled that I got to hear my mom’s voice. Her voice lights up my world.

“Jane, what are you thinking about?” June urges. “Why aren’t you eating? What’s on your mind?”

“What are you saying?” I ask, pulled out of my thoughts.

“What were you thinking about? I’ve been talking to you, but you’re not answering,” June asks. “Is something wrong?”

“I didn’t hear you. I’m sorry!” I respond.

“Are you thinking about your mate?” June continues. “If so, you should give him a call.”

“No, it’s not about him. I’m thinking about my mom. I’m still worried about her,” I say. “I think my father is frustrating her.”

“That’s not possible. You told me he loves her very much,” she asserts. “How can he mistreat the mate he loves?”

“You know, I disappeared without telling my mom! She must have been worried. Maybe she even wanted to search for me, but my father won’t allow that. She must be angry at him, and he’s angry at her,” I explain. “I caused everything, and I blame that bastard for this.”
