Chapter 31

It was January third and all seemed right with the world. Megan had nearly made Selena deaf by screaming into the phone when Selena had told her the wedding was back on. Christopher had let Selena decide if she wanted to go back to work or not. She didn’t see the point since she would have to quit again in a month because of the spousal in-department policy. He had been fine with her decision, but he had asked if she would sit in on the interviews of the final applicants and she had agreed to do so.

Christopher had asked Selena to the Hudson mansion for an early brunch. It appeared he really was trying to make more of an effort to treat Selena like a partner - not an employee who aggravated him.

William walked her to the sunroom. She was surprised to see another man, who was standing on the far side of the room. He appeared to be in his early forties with dark brown hair. He was wearing a white tie, a white dress shirt, and a dark blue suit.

The table was
