Chapter 52

            Selena had woken up in the back of her own car with Father Bruch at the wheel. When she had asked what happened, he had told her she fainted. She had told him that she had never fainted in her life. He had said today she did. Despite her protests, he took her to the hospital. She couldn’t believe how fast she was called back.

            Father Burch was with her, telling the nurse what had happened – what Selena couldn’t remember. She had passed right out and he caught her in his arms. He loaded her in her car immediately and drove her there.

            The nurse asked her a few questions, some Selena thought were a bit intrusive considering she just fainted. “Look, it’s just stress. I’ve never been mugged before.”
