Selene pov

"She killed Dave; he is lifeless," Selene lamented to Beta Josh, who was beside him at the abandoned old house in the middle of the woods.

"What should we do?" She asked with a cracked voice; she didn't want to be caught up in her games.

Dave, one of his assassins who does dirty jobs for her, was already dead. Selene feared that his death would be linked to her. She couldn't risk it.

"You know his mate knows. How was I going to explain to her that her husband is dead?" Selene moved her eyes to the dead body lying helplessly on the floor, his head ripped out of his body.

She had quietly sneaked out of the pack house without anyone's notice to see the person she held captive, but what she saw befall her sent goosebumps to her skin.

She had already escaped, and the man she put over him was already dead.

"What I am going to do right now—I can't risk being caught, and the Alpha will look down on me.The people will be disappointed in me."
