Chapter 29

Audrey's POV.

I and Maria sprinted off like we were being pursued whilst wondering why the King had ordered us to leave.

My heart thumped, adrenaline surging through my veins as I pushed through trees and shrubs. My lungs burned as the air became thinner and my muscles were already starting to scream in protest from all of the running.

Suddenly, I felt a strong gust of wind hit me right in the face, making tears prick at the corners of my eyes.

"Let's go." Maria gasped when she noticed some masked men running towards us. They were so big and so ugly it was pretty difficult to look up at them,

We both stopped abruptly, staring into their dark, menacing eyes.

Maria looked around frantically for something that we could use to protect ourselves from the attack and when she still didn’t see anything, she fidgeted.

Suddenly, her eyes widened likea light bulb had been turned on and then her hands gripped mine tightly as she pulled me towards her direction, pulling me behind a large oak tree
