Chapter 4: Emphasizing the truth

After we finished eating, Ken immediately came to my room to take me. I didn't want to bother him with carrying me, but I knew I couldn't refuse, knowing that I couldn't really refuse his help.

Upon our arrival in my room, he gently laid me on the bed and sat beside me, opening up a conversation.

"Are you full?" he asked.

"Yes."

"Great. In that case, get some sleep," he said, preparing to leave the room. However, I couldn't help but speak up, as I also wanted to talk to him and express my personal gratitude for all the help he had given me.

"Wait a minute..."

He slightly paused upon hearing my voice, then turned to face me again.

"Do you need anything else?" he inquired.

"Not at the moment, but I just wanted to thank you for all the help you've given me," I replied.

"It's okay. No problem at all. Just focus on getting better so that you can fully recover," he reassured me.

"I just wanted to thank you personally because if it weren't for you, who knows what might have happened to me. I might not even be here right now. I don't know how I can repay you for all your help, but my life is indebted to you," I expressed my gratitude.

"Don't thank me. Thank a higher power because He's the one who healed you. I was just his instrument to save and assist you," he humbly responded.

"I know," I acknowledged.

"Rest now and don't forget to take the medicine I gave you," he reminded me.

"Thank you very much."

He then left my room, and as he headed downstairs to the living room, the following morning,

While I was in the living room having breakfast, I saw Ken coming down from his room. There were medicines laid out on the table in front of me.

"Take your medicine after you've finished eating. I need to go, and Manang Minda, please take care of her," Ken directed before leaving the Mansion.

So, we weren't able to bid him farewell, as Manang Minda watched him leave.

Meanwhile, upon his arrival at the hospital, Ken was immediately welcomed by his nurse friend, Dom.

"Good Morning, Doc Ken. I'll take your things to your office," Dom greeted warmly.

"Thanks," Ken acknowledged.

They entered the elevator together, reaching Ken's office where Dom arranged his supplies on his desk.

"Today has been quite tiring," Dom expressed, taking a seat.

"Why were you tired when you didn't do anything yesterday?" Ken retorted, a hint of a smile in his eyes.

"Oh, come on, Doc. I was busy arranging the patients' beds and assisting those who came in," Dom defended.

"That's why you're tired," Ken acknowledged.

"Yes, of course," Dom affirmed.

"Do you want to rest?" Ken inquired.

"Yes, why not, Doc? A break would be nice, but what kind of rest are you suggesting—like permanent leave from work or a complete shutdown?" Dom teased.

Ken gave Dom a serious stare before laughing, understanding that Dom was joking.

"I don't want that, but if you want a bit of rest, taking leave for a while might help, haha. Just kidding," Ken chuckled.

"Actually, I could give you that leave, even if you don't return; it's okay," Ken offered playfully.

"Oh, come on, Doc. Why are you saying that? You wouldn't see me anymore, and shouldn't you miss me, so you could tell me that?" Dom teased further.

"Why would I miss you, am I your boyfriend?" Ken quipped.

"Why does 'missing' only apply to boyfriends and not friends, haha. But on a serious note, Doc Ken, how is the patient you brought home? Is she awake?" Dom questioned.

"Yes," Ken confirmed.

"Really? Oh, you didn't tell me right away; I could have sent some fruits and food. Is she awakened now?" Dom realized.

"Yes, her condition is stable. She just needs rest and therapy to fully recover," Ken informed.

As they conversed, Ken subtly reached for some grapes on his desk and began eating.

"I felt really sorry for her and her condition in the hospital. Since she arrived here, we barely recognized her due to all the rashes on her body," Dom shared.

Ken glanced at him, listening intently but refrained from interrupting Dom's account.
