CHAPTER SEVENTY-ONE

Emma's world spun out of control as the weight of Carrington's accusation bore down upon her. She desperately clung to the sliver of hope that Clyde, could not possibly be the one responsible for the heinous crime that had shattered her life.

“You're lying!” she cried out, her voice quivering with a mixture of fear and disbelief. “Clyde couldn't have killed my parents. He wouldn't…”

But before Emma could finish her sentence, Clyde's sinister smirk widened, confirming the devastating truth she had refused to acknowledge. His eyes gleamed with a twisted satisfaction as if reveling in the pain he was about to inflict upon her.

“Oh, but I did, Emma,” Clyde admitted, his voice laced with chilling nonchalance. “I hunted them down that fateful night. I took pleasure in watching the light fade from their eyes, knowing that it was all for you.”
