CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE

“It reveals the past or the future to a person,” Clyde voiced, turning back to face her. “But only if it chooses you. It is quite selective and it hasn’t revealed anything to anyone in years. It's safe to safe, it's a snub.”

“That’s…” Emma stammered. “That’s spectacular.”

“I know,” he agreed, opening the door of the cabin.

In the middle of the cabin, Emma could see a bird-like creature. Its eyes were large, and she could feel the intensity of its gaze on her. She swallowed, studying the strange bird. It was about 3 ft 4, with a small head and long neck. It was covered in black feathers with golden strips sprinkled around it.

Emma was captivated, and she was intrigued to know her past. Staring at the bird, she could only think of one thing. She wanted to know what really happened the night her parents died. She wanted to know who was responsible for killing them and why their death had been so mysterious.
