CHAPTER TWENTY

Clyde stared at the humans approaching them with fury. He slowly curled his hand into a fist beside him and his jaw locked. Dark veins began to circle his eyes and his chest was rising and falling.

There was no doubt that they were coming to attack them. The sun was setting and darkness was creeping over the sky.

He was right. Trailing Jim was a bad idea, but Emma didn’t listen to him. She always objected to whatever he said to feed her ego. She was a stubborn, weak girl whose actions got her into trouble always. If she had simply listened to him, he wouldn’t have had to kill the humans approaching them. But then, he couldn’t bear such disrespect. No matter how stubborn she was, he couldn’t let the humans fiddle with his strength and authority. He was an Alpha, and he would act like one.

With his eyes focused on them, he realized that they were armed as they drew nearer and their proximity was closing up. From the corner of his eyes, he could feel Emma trembling. He could hear her
