Chapter Twenty-Four
Cassidy POV
Sitting on the couch with Byron I felt safe. I know Jordan was hurt but it’s not like I expected Byron to be my mate. Plus, Byron wasn’t even a bad guy, sure he was a little attached and creepy on occasion but maybe he knew I was his mate before I did? I jump at Reign and Quintin screaming again. Alpha was doing something horrible to them and I didn’t want to know what. Byron pulled me in closer to him and I rest my head on his shoulder.
“You’re safe now,” he whispers into my hair before kissing the top of my head.
“I don’t feel safe anywhere, not completely.” I whisper, I could tell Jordan was watching us from the balcony. He was so mad at Byron. I’d have to talk to him later, alone.
“Hey, you’re always safe with me. You will always be my priority, no matter what Mr high and mighty says. I just got you, no way in hell am I giving you up.”

Vanessa POVShifting I let Athena run to our old spot. Jordan didn’t say really anything, just that he wanted to meet up and I was hopeful he had changed his mind but his voice sounded odd. I knew something was up with him. It took Athena half an hour to reach the lake where we used to hang out. It was like our own private lake, nobody else really came here. It was special to us and us alone. When we got closer to the rock he was sitting on Athena shifted back, allowing me to talk up to him. I tapped his should before sitting down beside him, dangling my legs over the edge.“Hey, thanks for coming, I really need your help.” He seemed weird which instantly made me nervous.“Where’s Cassidy? And why do you need my help?”“Cassidy has been kidnapped…” I stare at him a little shocked and confused.“Yay! Now he can choose us!” Athena cheers in my head and I snap at her.

Nina POVI was tied up and a hessian bag was placed over my head so I couldn’t see. The ropes were laced in wolfsbane and they burnt on contact with my fur. Burning rings around my paws. I was thankful I had locked Cassidy away, she didn’t need to see or endure this. I whined for Chase as I felt the ropes tug and I fall over. They were dragging me along the ground. Chase was laughing at me, saying how stupid I was and I felt ashamed for trusting him so blindly. I suddenly felt six lots of hands around me and I start to thrash to fight them off. Cassidy POVI felt myself coming back up to the veil. Nina either letting me in or letting her guard down. I start to feel the pain she was feeling and I knew something was wrong. Her eyes were closed so I couldn’t see what was going on. I tried to call out to her but she wasn’t responding which was weird. I walk up to the veil and press against it before feeling myself take control and we shift. I struggle as I realise my hands and feet are tied together like I was a hog. Lani led the way through the tunnel, Vanessa was too afraid to go first for fear of cobwebs. It was so dark down here it was hard to see anything. I was thankful we were werewolves and could see in the dark because human eyes couldn’t see what we could, even though that wasn’t much. Cassidy POVI was awoken by a hose spraying wolfsbane at me from below. I cry out in pain as it tears into my skin. Some of it getting into my throat and burning me from the inside as I instinctively swallow. I hear laughter at my pain and I open my eyes for the first time in this room. I’ve been too scared; I didn’t want them to see the fear in my eyes but I couldn’t keep my eyes closed forever. I look around and notice it’s a big concrete warehouse and I was on top of some sort of raised platform made of concrete. The room was brightly lit by heaps of industrial lamps on the roof. There wasn’t much in the room except two cars and the van I assume to have been brought here in, by the one roller door at the end of the building. Jordan POVWe followed the tyre tracks to the end of the dirt road. It led us through winding back trails through the surrounding bushland no pack had claimed. We shifted back when we reached the end of the road, unsure where to go from here as the trail had ended. It was dark out now; the sun had set about an hour ago.“So where now?” Vanessa asks, looking to me for leadership.“The tracks end here so they can’t be far… right?” Lani asks.I bend down and touch the last visible track before looking around. There was nothing but bushland here. The tracks stopped in front of some rocks so the cars couldn’t have gone any further and yet they weren’t here. I stand up and walk over to the rocks on the grass, they looked slightly out of place here as there weren’t many rocks in this area, it was mostly trees and shrubs.
