Chapter 29

"What do you mean you're the legal son?" Wren's words made Carnation's heart stop beating. Wren had called her fiancé a bastard, but she didn't think that was what he meant.

"Unfortunately, Wregan's mother is my father's mistress." Wren took a deep breath. “They had an affair and things happened and. . .boom! There was Wregan, who was born behind my mom's back." Wren tells the story between chuckles. Carnation isn't sure if Wren is serious about what he said because it appears that Wren doesn't care that his daddy cheated on his mommy, and it seems that the young man isn't sharing his family's story because he speaks so casually and coolly.
