The gunshots continue for what feels like a lifetime, shouts and screams were also filling the air as people began to panic. Austin kept whispering in my ear that everything was going to be okay, he seemed calm though this whole ordeal which made me also calm down. My head didn't move from his chest as they continued, but in a single second they stopped. What followed was complete silence, the screaming or shouting that once was very evident was gone. With a scared expression, I look up at Austin who was looking down at me. Did we actually just survive that?"It's over, you're okay" he smiles hugging me slightly as I tried to calm down, I stare at the bedroom wall wondering what happened. One minute we were sat making dinner and joking around, the next complete chaos with Austin dragging me to my bedroom. "You saved my life" I say turning my head slowly to look up at Austin, while he shook his head with a smile. "I can't let anything happen to you can I?" He smiles looking me in t
I wake up the next day with a plate of breakfast from Austin, he told me he had already called my work to tell them what happened. He managed to bag me a day off work! I thank him taking the breakfast where I realise, I was in his bed. For a second I totally forgot that I fell asleep here, he said he also managed to get a day off so we could do something to put my mind off of what happened. I thank him before finishing my breakfast, I jump in the shower and start to get ready for the day. I wanted to take a look out the window to see what the scene looks like now, but I hadn't actually gone to the front of the house yet as my bedroom is at the back. I had finished getting dressed when my phone rings on my dressing table, hanging my wet towel up I walk over to see Roman FaceTiming me. I answer it while taking my seat, it connects for a few seconds before his worried face fills the screen. "Payton, are you okay I just saw the news?" He asks worriedly, but I did see his face flash an e
I remain where I was standing, as Markus walks passed Austin and arrives in the living room. He looks straight over to me sending me a smile, where I have to try my hardest not to show how scared I really am. "What can we do for you?" Austin asks walking passed Markus slowly, where he comes to a stop beside me. "I heard what happened last night, when I saw you both weren't at work I'd thought I'd come over to see how you both were" he smiles placing his hands in his pockets as he went, I take a look up at Austin for a split second. Yes of course he would know if Austin didn't show up to work, the dude is Austin's boss! But to know if I wasn't in work, he would have either had to ring my work asking if I was in, which I know Brooke was probably eating it all up. Or he went into my work to see if I was there, why would he go out of his way to check where I was?! "Payton and I are fine, we just thought it would be better to take a day off today" Austin smiles wrapping his arm around
We sit on the edge of the sofa in silence for a few minutes, yes he told me I could ask him anything. I had so many questions swirling around my head, yet I didn't know how I was supposed to ask them. Austin got up suddenly and walks towards the door, this shocks me as I thought he just said we could sit here and he'd answer my questions. But before I could question him, he locks the door whilst also putting the chain on. "We don't want Markus walking back in while we're having this conversation" he says walking back over to me, but now moves so we're not uncomfortable sitting on the back of the sofa but at the table instead. "What would he do if he found out we were talking about this?" I ask as I pull my seat out and sit down, he sat across from me placing his hands on the table. "I don't even want to imagine" he sighs looking down at the table, his comment immediately causing fear to make its way through my body. "I promise, I won't let anything happen to you" he says looking me
After speaking with Austin about it all, I agreed to join him for dinner with Markus. Knowing what I know now, I knew I didn't really have much of an option. Austin still felt so bad that he's brought me into this, I kept telling him what's done is done and we can't change that now. I will come up with a plan to get us both out of this, I just have to be careful due to how Markus is. There was someone I wanted to tell and ask what to do, but I knew Austin wouldn't want me to do that. Also, he would immediately tell me I would need to tell someone like the police, but with the little I know about Markus, I would not be doing that. If you haven't already guessed who I'm talking about, it's Roman. He's only been away for coming up two weeks now, I just hope that all of this is out of the way by the time he gets back. We can't have Markus thinking Austin and I are a thing, then he'll see me with Roman! That's just more drama and chaos that I really don't need in my life right now, it will
We didn't speak for most of the car journey there, I think both of us were just trying to wrap our heads around what just happened. There were so many things swirling around my head, who was it that told the police that we know more? Was that a trap or some kind of test from Markus? But I saw the badges the guys were wearing, they were definitely police officers. Austin didn't fool that police officer back there, that's why he ended up giving me his card. I didn't want to show Austin that because I know he'd tell me to throw it away, but a part of me wanted to keep it just in case. I promised Austin that somehow I would figure out how to get him out of this, maybe that police guy is the way forward. We soon pull up at a huge mansion, I thought the one he held the party in was grand, but it did not compare to this. Why didn't he just hold that gathering here? Actually, with what happened that night I guess he wouldn't want all the mess. Or for the police to trace it back to him."Than
The first half of the car ride was silent, I couldn't believe how Austin stood up to Markus. Whenever he talks about Markus, he tells me how you can never talk back to him. Apparently, he doesn't take it too kindly and will retaliate in some sinister way. I was hoping that wouldn't happen, but I couldn't help but feel grateful for Austin."Thank you" I say looking over at him slightly as I spoke. "I know that must have been terrifying to talk back to Markus like that, but you protected me from being forced to also work for him" I smile where he shakes his head, but does look over at me."You really don't have to thank me Payton, you shouldn't be put in a situation where he would be offering you a job. This is my fault" he says lopping back to him feeling sorry for himself. "But when it comes to you, I would do anything to keep you safe" he says looking over at me with a serious face, before he turns back to look at the road."Would have Markus sent the police around to test if we woul
Austin needed to get out of the house to try and calm himself down, what Roman said to him just angered him in more ways than he could have imagined. Austin only wants what is best for Payton, everything he is doing is to protect her from Markus and anyone affiliated with him. But Roman calling the police has put that on record, if Markus was to look he’d see that police went around their house to talk. What could Markus think if he saw that?Roman telling him Payton was his girlfriend also bothered him, yes he knows they’re together and have been for years, but he can’t shake the feelings he has for Payton. He has liked her ever since they met back in school, before Roman and Payton ever knew each other. He told Roman the feelings he was having back then and Roman said he needed to back off, he had eyes for Payton first and there was no way Austin was going to come in and take his potential girlfriend. A few weeks later, Payton and Roman began dating where Austin had to just deal wit
