Chapter Nine

Their lips stay still for a second. Marcus' lips, sandwiching Deianne's upper lips, didn't dare to move. However, after a few seconds, Marcus starts to move his lips, nibbling Deianne's lips on him.

Deianne, on the other hand, doesn't have any desire to push the man. She enjoys every single touch that he makes. Both of them once again got lost in each other's warmth.

Marcus loves how his wife's lips taste, and the kiss is getting intense. His hand skillfully moves to his spouse's waist. Not having enough of the taste from Deianne's lips, he starts to use his tongue, playfully tasting the cavern.

Deianne enjoys it even more. She doesn't want to move because Marcus' lips and tongue feel so addictive. The man's hand is now on her hips as she is being pulled close to him, seeking more from her friction. Their lips touch each other; their tongues are now clearly dueling in a battle; their eyes are still closed.

She feels her lungs are now running out of air, but she doesn't mind. She thought if she were dead, this would be the best way to die.

Marcus' hand is slowly getting under his wife's shirt, touching the woman's soft and milky skin. Deianne, on the other hand, sucked her tongue when he felt the latter's hand squeezing her back. That's when Marcus lets out a moan, and that's also when Deianne's mind finally works back to normal. She realizes that this whole kissing thing is wrong; hence, she pulls away and slightly pushes the man's body away from her.

Both of them are still panting, trying to fill their empty lungs with air. Their eyes were locked on each other. Deianne can see Marcus' parted lips, and the man can see her plump and swollen one, which is so sexy to stare at. She tried to find out what they just did in Marcus' eyes, but she couldn't find anything. In a second, she got up from the couch and walked upstairs to their bedroom, leaving the man all alone, dumbfounded.

Once she arrived at their room, she closed and locked the door. She is already trying so hard to walk on an even keel. When she was in their room, she dropped her body on the floor with her back pressed against the door. Deianne then buries her head in her hands. Her mind keeps thinking about the kiss.

Why did he kiss me? And why didn't I reject it? Why did I even enjoy it? What was the kiss meant for?

Deianne keeps thinking about it over and over again. She keeps rewinding the kiss inside her head, how Marcus' lips felt in hers, how their tongues skillfully played, how the man tasted her cavern, and how she loved every single bit of that action.

She hardly stands up and goes to the bathroom. She then washes her face over and over again. Then she goes to bed, trying so hard to sleep. Even though every time she closes her eyes, the only thing that comes up in her mind is how his lips taste.

Marcus, on the other hand, was left alone in the living room. His mind was still trying to process what happened. He kissed his wife, and finally, she kissed him back with the same intensity. He took a deep breath and covered his face with his hands.

Why did she push me away? Was it because I stepped over her boundary? But she kissed me back. We both enjoyed that kiss.

The next day, Deianne woke up a little bit late. She can see the sun already rising outside their window. She blinks several times to adjust the light. She then looked at the alarm clock on the bedside table; it was already nine in the morning. She tried to hear any sounds downstairs, but she couldn't hear anything except silence.

She took a deep breath before going outside. She goes downstairs and, finding the house is actually empty, she looks in the family room, the living room, and the back garden, but before she can shout to call Marcus, she goes into the kitchen, where she finds a note stuck on the refrigerator.

Out for a while. I need to take some stuff from my old apartment.

-Marcus

Deianne lets out a sigh of relief. She somehow feels at ease knowing that she doesn't have to meet the man for a while. She made a quick late breakfast for herself, took a bath, and then headed to her studio. Once inside, she immediately started working.

It was already one o'clock in the afternoon when she decided to take a lunch break. She was walking in the parking lot when she received a text message from her best friend asking her to have lunch with her. They decided to meet at their favorite restaurant.

"Nica!" she greeted, as she took a seat across from her best friend. Since high school, Nica had been her one and only best and most trusted friend. The woman knew about her play as her twin sister.

"Dei? What the hell are you doing? One of my assistants saw you already working in your studio. Aren't you supposed to have days off?" Nica said.

"Well, I don't like staying alone at home. I might as well finish the ones I left before the wedding."

Nica looked confused. "Wait, alone?"

Deianne rolled her eyes. "What do you expect? I'm with Marcus?"

"Of course! He is your husband!"

She looked around before saying, "He isn't my husband. He is my sister's. Moreover, he left this morning even before I woke up.

"I know about that, but he is still your husband now." Nica insisted. "Where did he go? Don't tell me to work as well." the woman added.

"He went to his old apartment."

"How are you doing these days? You can tell me anything." Nica suddenly said, but she just sighed. She is still hoping that Daniella will be back soon, because she can only take so much of what is happening right now.

Nica smiles, trying to make her feel better. Deianne appreciated how her friend wanted her to feel better; hence, she smiled in return.

"Anyway, we should eat. I'm starving." She commented.

They order their lunch and eat it peacefully. They eat their lunch without talking about anything that might stress the both of them.

Once they finished their lunch, Nica asked, directly to the point, "So, how was your life with him? Did something happen?"

Deianne once again rolled her eyes. Nosy Nica! "What do you mean, how? You know what our marriage means for, Nica."

"So you two really haven't done anything ever since your wedding day?"

She sighed. "No."

"Promise? You're not lying to me, are you?"

Her mind suddenly flashes back to their last night's kiss. She bent her head slightly lower, but she notices how her best friend is observing her closely, so she looks to the woman before shaking her head.

Nica lets out a smirk. "Don't you dare lie straight to my face, Deianne Allison!"

"I'm not lying to you, Nica. I swear." Deianne tried to sound as confident as she could.

"Tch. I know you, Dei. Come on! Spill it! There must be something happening, judging by how you reacted."

"You're overanalyzing my reaction. Nothing happened."

"Spill it now."

"What?"

"Now."

Deianne went silent for a few moments as she looked at her best friend. She is thinking carefully about whether she will say what happened or not. She sighs in the end.

"Fine,"

Nica gave her a satisfied grin as the woman waited for her to say what happened.

"But don't freak out." She warned her. Nica just nodded her head quickly.

"W-we kissed."

At first, Nica didn't give any reaction; she was trying to process what she had just heard.

"Okay, you kissed. Did he kiss you on your cheeks or was it you who did it?"

Deianne shook her head.

"Oh my, holy crap!" Nica uttered as her eyes slowly rounded. She realized what Deianne had just said. "So you guys kissed on the lips? Wait, was it just a peck?" Nica suddenly freaks out. As a result, Deianne rapidly covers her mouth with her hand, trying to shut her up.

"I told you not to freak out!"

"I'm sorry. But wait, who started it?"

"He was the one who kissed me."

"And you kissed him back?"

Deianne stayed silent this time, and Nica could already guess the answer.

"Did you enjoy it?"

She looks up at Nica. She doesn't have to answer it again, but the woman already knows that she did.

"Wait, don't tell me you are starting to develop some feelings for him?"

"Of course not," she hastily replied.

This time, it was Nica who let out a sigh. "Look, Dei, I don't know what you are thinking now, but you need to figure it out quickly. You are always on the end of the stick, given your situation. Always remember that."

Deianne lets out a couple of deep breaths. "What should I do then?"
