Lunch was exactly as uncomfortable as you could imagine. The girls would not stop asking how I was doing. I eventually reached a breaking point with it.

“I’m fine, okay! Stop asking,” I shrieked at Ashley after she asked for the Upteenth time.

They exchanged an unreadable look. "We are sorry for overdoing it, we are just worried," Alison said, attempting to calm me down. “You’ve been spacing out a lot also. Yesterday at gym class, I bruised your stomach because you weren’t paying attention,” Ashley said with a soft look on her face.

I groaned internally, wanting to scream. Why couldn’t they just drop it, ‘They care about you Rae, stop being irrational,’ Lynn butted in. ‘I know, it's just kinda unsettling.’ I replied, pushing my soup around with my spoon.
