At Leah's insistence, Jade stopped refusing. "Okay, Grandma, I'll accept it for now."

Leah smiled and patted her shoulder. "Alright, go about your business."

Outside Leah's home, Jade received a call from Melvin. "Jade, Neve's having surgery today. How could you not be here for such a big event?"

Clearly, he was calling her to be a standby blood donor, but he made himself sound so righteous.

Jade believed that if anything happened during the surgery, Melvin would not hesitate to drain her blood to save Neve.

"Sure, Dad," Jade scoffed with a raised eyebrow. There was a cold gleam in her eyes.
