DARREN'S POV

I came home hopeless. Without Mariko, how am I supposed to lift my curse? She was my last hope. For years I've searched for witches to help me and failed countlessly. Now, we found one, but she left.

"Ahhh!" I screamed out my frustrations. Punching the wall to my secret room. I feel nothing but wretched.

"Oh, my, Darren! Stop that!" Mom heard me and came quickly. I continued punching the wall, "Son, please, stop!"

"Darren!" Rupert and dad hold my arms forcibly. My hands were covered with blood, but their pain was nothing compared to how I felt.

"Mom, dad," I broke down in tears. Mom didn't know what had happened and asked Rupert. He told them.

"Oh, son, please, don't hurt yourself. Don't lose hope. I'm sure she'll be back. Your curse will end, I'm sure," mom embraces me.

"Curse? No, not my son! No! This is my fault. We must go back to the mountain," dad loses it again. I forgot he could not tolerate my curse and lost himself every time.
