DARREN'S POV

Someone is outside. I tried to catch the scent of whoever that was, but I couldn't smell anything. He was firing an arrow at us.

"Rupert, I have to go out and find out who's doing this!"

"Darren, no. There could be more of them outside! I will light the torch." Rupert runs upstairs to the control room. He flips the switch, and the torch in every corner of our house shines brightly outside. We can see everything within five meters away.

The torch was Dad's idea, just like my cave. He built it. He used to talk about attacks. I don't know what he meant by that, but he spent his days building my cave and the torch.

I remember he said it would ward off enemies. Confused, I just let him do his thing. Not knowing it was one of the signs of his advance Alzheimer's disease. Aside from the cave and the torch, Dad also put a horn. The first day he test it, police came into our house and questioned Dad.
