DARREN'S POV

Mom was already awake when I came back. Leona dropped me off while she headed back to her apartment. She promised to visit Mom in the hospital again.

"Where were you, son? Why so blue?" Mom noticed my sad face. I didn't mean for her to see, but that is how I feel about that short rendezvous with Leona.

"I took Leona to the campsite. I tried telling her my secret, but I got scared, Mom."

"Oh, son. Come here," Mom held me close.

The summer camp was the last time I had fun because the next day was when I turned eighteen, and the curse came out. Since then, I have lived in the shadows of my cave and the woodland at the back of our mansion.

Next time you should bring her somewhere and talk to her about it, bro.
