RUPERT'S POV:

"Hold on. I'm going to my car. Can I call you back?" I said to Mariko. Leona was just around, and I didn't want her to hear our conversation.

"I don't have time to explain. Before his thirtieth birthday, you must break the curse, or he'll be a werewolf forever."

"But how? Hello? Fuck!" Mariko hangs up the call. I dialed her number, but she didn't answer her phone.

I went back inside and thanked Leona for the coffee and cookies.

"Are you okay, Rupert? You seemed upset."

"Everything's fine, Leona. I need to go home to watch Aunt Sonia. Darren is not feeling well," I started to the door.

"Just feeling tired. I got to go. Take care, though, and secure the door. Bye." I left. Not waiting for Leona to say a word. For sure, she would ask more about Darren.
