Chapter 30

Summer’s POV

It was Rayne that stripped Nathan out of his clothes. He covered him with a sheet and wheeled the trolley through to us.

As he was leaving, he told me he had left his underwear on. Elizabeth came into the theater a few seconds late. She stood at the edge of the room. As she could be helpful for a few bits. Just before me and Adam slid Nathan onto my table, Elizabeth informed me he hadn’t had any blood taken nor was he cannulated.

I stared at her, but she couldn’t see my face through my surgical mask. I knew it wasn’t her fault or that anyone else could do it. I was more frustrated with myself. Why didn’t someone remind me before I scrubbed in? Elizabeth prepares me two cannulation trays and sends them my way.

I hadn’t cannulated anyone for a while, but I couldn’t miss his veins if I tried. His arms were enormous, he had so many bulging veins. It would be hard to miss these veins.
