Jayden's p. o. v

Being the next alpha in line, dad made sure I train harder than the rest. Under experienced trainers... blood and sweat I had to endure.

I was sometimes excluded away from the pack members. Through the thick and thin of hell of training. I had to master every skill. Canine Pack was reknown and it needed no weak alpha.

I rarely talked to Luciana. I had realized my parents never wanted us to be close. But for the few times I did, it was some sort of magic. Her peculiar aura . I found her irrestitibly nice but conservative.

Though we rarely met, I knew I liked her the most. Dad did his best to ensure we were always apart. Something I didn't want to question but it irritated me.

Though we attend the same school. Boys were restricted from crossing over to the girls section. I wanted to see her so I decided to break the rule. The noise in their classroom got my attention first.

I thought they were having a party. I could feel the hot blood in my veins, the hairs on my brown skin went alert. Lying helpless on the floor was my favorite person. Stella, elder Santiago's daughter was fuming with rage.

What shocked me the most Aurelio's presence and how she was pleased she was. Was she not supposed to protect her instead?

I chose to trek home just to have some time with her. I knew dad would be mad at me but I followed my heart. I delayed a bit and I had to run after her.

A few yards ahead of me a fierce strong female wolf stared at me. On the ground was Stella and her friends. They were all in pain. I raced after her into the woods.

"Leave me alone or else...," she growled as skidded to halt throwing dry leaves into the air with her impact. "I said get away from me now!" she repeated. Her face was contorted, her uniquely bared sharp fangs made me step back.

Her body shook with rage. "Luciana," I gasped after she realizing who she was. "Luciana, you shifted. Am happy for...,"

"Step away from me!" Her fierce wolf was no calming down. For a few minutes we stared at each in silence. I watched in awe as she shifted into human. She certainly looked cool and composed.

"So why did you hurt your classmates?" I asked as I gently held her hand. She looked deep into my eyes without saying a word. For a moment I was glued to her beautiful hazel eyes.

She made as if to walk away before I reached for her hand. "Don't you think you will pay for that? " I asked softly.

"Whatever... I was just defending myself. They deserve it," she said. Few minutes ago she was mad, almost pounced on me.

We had barely walked a few yards when a Mercedes bearing Canine Pack emblem stopped beside it. The meta was behind the wheel.

One look at dad made my heart race in my chest. I could read between the lines. If he was a book I could read him backwards as well.

Trouble was looming. Luciana was unbothered. "See me in the office right away," he coldly ordered.

"Your mother is waiting for you in your room," he said pointing at Luciana who was now scared. He eyes were teary and she was almost shaking. I pitied her.

I quickly changed into my sweat pants and followed him. The akward silence as he stared at me for a whole minute made me more tensed. I thought I understood him but today he was unusual.

"Am dissapointed with you," he said in low tone. His crimson red eyes made me wish the floor could just open and swallow together with the chair.

He was struggling to hide his anger. "I told you to stay away from her... Didn't I?" he quizzed while gazing at me. I almost jumped out of my chair when he adjusted his seat.

"Yes... You did but I don't understand.... "

"You don't have to understand. Nobody goes against my word, don't be the first one," he warned me. I walked out of his office minutes later. I breathed a sigh of relief. It felt as if I had been there for months.

You don't mess with my dad. I was lucky he didn't raise his hand on me. I still couldn't understand why he wanted me to stay away from her. Was she not my sister? Was there something he was trying to hide from me.

"Look here. You gotta respect me from today!" I could hear Aurelio from the other side of the corridor. She was good at harassing omegas for no reason. There was a specific one she hated the most.

She was this mysterious and rude. I just got curious to see who she was harassing this time."Your place from today is the servants quarters," she continued in a loud voice. I was shocked when I got to the scene.

Luciana was on her knees. Aurelio's nose flared and her eyes hardened into slits as she stared at her. Luciana remained still even as she slapped her. She was not crying.

I was about to interveme when mum appeared. "Tell that filthy rat to over there to join the other servants," she said with contempt all over her face. She threw the banana peel at her.

"Pick that shit from the floor," Aurelio ordered as Luciana bent to pick the peel. "Good for nothing idiot. Use your mouth instead," she said as she kicked her in the abdomen.

She clenched her jaws in pain. I pitied her but there was nothing I could do. I would be in trouble if I tried anything stupid.

But why? What has she done to deserve this kind of treatment? Why the certain change of things? All the questions I had no one to ask. I had them bottled in my mind.

The pain of seeing your favourite person suffer right before your eyes. Seeing her whimper in pain. The reasons no one could explain to me.

"You have to follow what your father told you," mum was not sparing me at all. Like dad he was insisting on the same thing. I was conflicted and nervous.

"You know what kind of day tomorrow will be. You know what is expected of you. Be diligent," she concluded with a smile. The next day Canine Pack would hold the great Manon ball party.
