The driver was completely bewildered. He could not help but ask, “Pardon, Madam. But, why is that?”

“With my prolonged stay here, I can get Maya to work for the mansion and annoy my brother more,” Mrs. Simons explained with a thoughtful expression. She was smiling as she continued, “That Pedro is still getting on my nerves, he keeps acting like he knows something, and Maya annoyingly reminds me of Allison―the old Duke’s only daughter. It makes my blood boil.”

The driver remained silent.

“However, I need to play it right.” She continued, “I’ll continue pretending to be her friend. I’ll meet Pedro tomorrow and ask him to tell me about Maya’s birth parents.”

“Why go to such lengths?” The driver whispered. His voice was barely audible, but Mrs. Simons was able to hear it.
