Before Maya could reply, Oli continued, “Or an assistant or both. I know you can do either, Maya. I mean, I’ve been looking for a decent chef, but I’ve been so disappointed.”
“I’d be glad to work for you, Oli,” Maya said with a genuine smile. Not only was she glad to work for her, but she was looking forward to it.
Actually, she prefers to be a chef than an assistant. She did have a bad experience with them later, after all. When she was an assistant, she met Alexander, after all.
