One Hundred and Twenty Nine

Asher’s POV

There was a knock on the door, and I frowned a little, wondering if the cops were back again this evening. My mother and May had just left to have a late lunch because they hadn't had anything to eat since, so I knew it couldn’t be them.

The medication that was administered to me was still making me feel a little drowsy, but I was awake now.

Before I could speak and ask whoever it was to come in, the door opened and Gary walked in. “Hey, my man.” He said and I smiled a little.

I had just this morning been wondering why he hadn’t come around to the hospital to visit me, and was still meaning to ask May or something, but now he was here.

My thoughts must have summoned him, but I was glad to see him.

“Hey, Gary. It took you long enough to come see me, don’t you think?” I said, a small smile teasing my lips.
