Twenty Three

Asher’s POV

As I lunged for her, my intention was to grab her, shake her, and tell her I didn't cheat. I wanted to let her know I wasn't a cheater, but I didn't expect what she did in response.

May grabbed the cup that was on the table nearby, the one that was filled with water but must have been left there in a rush, and before I knew what was happening, she splashed the water across my face. I could see that she had regretted her action the moment she did that, because her eyes went huge in their socket.

She was shocked by her action, just as I was also surprised she had done that, and I stared at her, anger ticking in my blood. What I wasn't sure of was who I was angry at, at all.

Was it myself for letting things go this far? Was it her for emptying the contents of the glass cup against my face.

I loved the banter between us because this was the first time she wasn’t trying to say she was sorry about something, or looking at me with pathetic eyes, so I was quite enjoying it until I
