Rae’s POV
I was terrified of Nathan’s sudden outburst even though I know it was totally my fault. But, after everyone’s reassuring along with his constant apology that knew no end I eventually gave in and started trying to get to know him.
Breakfast was different then what I was use to. After I was able to finally use chopsticks, somewhat, I was able to eat my fill. Again the food tasted as if it lacked something but it was far better then what Jeong’s father had served.
After breakfast Jean and Gerald began clearing the table. I wanted to help but Jeong tugged the sleeve of my dress and motioned me to sit.
Jeong leans towards me and whispers “Let them do their job.” as he smiled.
I let out a sigh as I nod to him and watch them clear the table.
Jeong states “I’m glad you’re starting to get the hang of using chopsticks.”
“Yea
Jeong’s POVIt’s been two days since we’ve began talking about Rae making her own soap. She’s practically living in the library while she does her research. The soaps Nathan picked up from the city for the time being works for Rae. She says they aren’t that great, but they are fine.Currently Nathan, Gerald and I take turns keeping Rae company while staying out of her way, in all honesty it’s just an excuse to keep watch over her. I don’t think she will run, but rumors of the Takvorian’s keep reaching my ears. If they so much as try anything I will show no mercy. I am a bit on edge since I still have little to no idea about her powers with the looming threat of the Takvorian’s in the back of my mind. But, with the issue of soap I haven’t even had a chance to bring it up. How could I?Leaning against one of the bookshelves I mindlessly thumb through a book in my
Rae’s POV I’ve been so wrapped up with researching possible things to use in soap that I completely disregarded the close proximity of everyone around me. Now when leaving the house to visit this so called natural healer I’m completely aware of how close Jeong is to me. This is the first time he sat next to me in the carriage. Granted this is only the third time being in one with him, but still he’s so close. What do I say to him? Should I say anything? The trip to town was silent and awkward. Luckily the town wasn’t that far from the house. We could have actually walked just fine, was there really a need to use the carriage? Maybe that’s just something rich people are use to. The carriage stopped in front of a small court yard as Nathan jumped down and opened the door. Jeong got down first and Nathan reached his hand towards me helping me down. I jump down with a thud and almost lost my balance but Nathan was quic
Jeong’s POVIf the soap Rae creates becomes known it could cause problems in the future. Not only will the attention be drawn to her it could jeopardize her safety as I am sure many men would dare challenge me for her. What this man offers is to use himself to hide the fact Rae created the soap giving an added precaution preventing future troubles while reaping the benefits.Should I give in and say yes? I know no other person knowledgeable for the information Rae requires. I glance at Rae and notice she’s fidgeting with the hem of her sleeve. Even though she seems to be hiding her anxiety well from view I can feel it through the bond.Looking over at Dr Willard, he just smiles at me waiting for my decision. “Is there a method in testing possible oils on Rae without injuring her? I’d like to make an informed decision knowing if the oils are something she is or isn’t allergic to. Surely that
Jeong’s POV Dr Willard’s now serious look plastered across his face “And, I would do anything if it meant stopping The Project and reclaiming our world from corruption.” This man seems to be telling the truth, but is he truly against The Project? He hasn’t shown anything to lead me in disbelief. His knowledge would prove quite valuable if we are to move forward with our plan. Having more information against the elite will undoubtedly be in our favor in the future. When pondering the man before me Rae and Nathan walk back into the room. I notice a small bandage peaking out from beneath her sleeve. “Rae, are you ok?” while quickly getting up reaching for her hand. “I’m o k...” she stops and watches me lift her sleeve looking at the bandage around her arm. “What happened?” trying to calm myself while anger wells up inside of me. Rae covers her mouth
Jeong’s POV I left Rae’s room in a silent fit of rage marching down the stairs towards my study. The nerve of that woman willfully allowing herself to be injured. Not to mention Dr Willard’s flirtatious actions. I can’t help but scowl thinking about it. Still in a rage I link Jean “Prepare something for Rae, she hasn’t eaten today.” “Shall I prepare a late lunch for her in the dinning room?” Jean responded. “She’ll be staying in her room.” cutting the link. Upon reaching my study I see Nathan standing near my desk with a few papers in hand. Nathan smiles at me “I thought you would be” Before he could finish I used my power to pin him against the wall squeezing his throat. “You had one job and you failed. Tell me why I shouldn’t rip your head off right here, right now.” Wheezing Nathan tries to speak “I-i-f yo-u j-us-t le-et
Rae’s POV Waking up sore all over. “Ugh” what is wrong with me? Pushing myself up from the bed I notice I am under the covers. Did I do that or did Jeong? Shaking my head I look towards the window and see the night sky. “I wonder what time it is.” Pushing the covers off of myself and flinging my legs over the side of the bed I wince at the soreness of my body. Why am I so sore? It feels like my body got to much rest, but at the same time doesn’t feel like I got any rest. Glancing at the night stand I see what looks to be a sandwich and a glass of water. Not really feeling like eating right at this moment I force myself up and head to the bathroom. After doing my business, taking a quick shower then getting dressed I’m back in my room. Without thinking I grab the plate of food and drink and head out of the room. I mindlessly find myself walking down the stairs until a light caught my eye from the side of the house I
Rae’s POVJeong almost touching my ear with his lips “Close your eyes.”Closing my eyes I try focusing on his touch, his breath and his closeness. Basically anything to keep myself from drifting off. It may be embarrassing, but at least it’s embarrassing enough to keep me somewhat awake. With his calming voice “I need you to imagine creating a ball of light in your hands.”I think back on my last dream. The joyful little ball of light wanting to play with me.“That’s it, good.” Jeong slowly traces his hands up my arms until they rest on my shoulders. “Now open your eyes.”Opening my eyes I see my little colorful swirl of light hovering just above my cupped hands. No matter how many times I see it I’m still mesmerized by it.While he still held onto me “Do you se
Rae’s POV “What do you mean you don’t have to worry about me over powering you?” looking at Nathan and Jeong questionably. I can see Gerald and Jeong counting my little orbs of light silently. “Well from what I see, I can tell you have less power then the three of us. Don’t get me wrong, for a woman you’ve already proven that it’s not just men in the top tier. That in itself is something to boast about.” Nathan said with a huge smile on his face. Weird that they measure your power by the amount of orbs you can produce at once. I wonder how many orbs I can actually cast at once if that’s the case. Gerald speaks up “I counted one hundred. How about you?” “Same.” Jeong looks at me quite pleased “You always find ways to impress me Rae.” Glancing to the side staring at an orb close to my face I can’t help but wonder why something as small as this impre
