Chapter 28

Aria

'you shoot anyone that comes through this door who isn't me.' Mecael's words repeated in my head.

I was on the bed kneeling, sobbing and muttering the hundredth hail Mary. The door creaked open and I wished I was in the closet.

I swallowed and shifted my weight for balance. A man in Black entered.

'you shoot anyone that comes through this door who isn't me.'

I pulled the trigger. The first shot landed on his left shoulder. He flinched and cursed at me. He lifted his right arm which held the gun.

I gripped the gun tighter in my trembling hand. I held my right hand with the left one for focus. He stepped forward. I shot. It went through his head. He dropped to the ground.

My eyes went wide.

I killed a man.

"Aaaaaaaah!" I threw the gun on the other side of the bed.

I collapsed on the bed.

My breathing increased.

I killed a guy.

I was a murderer.

I was going to get arrested and I'd rot in jail.

My whole life was over.

The door budged open. I cover my ears with my hands and shut
