Jack's POV
After a few months of struggling to get a wife for the sake of my company, it was finally over! But I still found it hard to believe I'm finally married.
I heaved a deep sigh before reaching for the duplicate of the marriage contract.
I read through the marriage contract. I guess there were few things that needed amendment in the contract like the, “No sex rule.”
I know the reason for our marriage is for an heir for the company but I don't love Eve and I will never think of having such an affair with her.
I dropped the paper on my bed before laying down. I wondered how I'll face the clusterluck I had just created. I can't even hold a conversation with her. If not because of the shareholders, I wouldn't have been in such a mess.
*Two months ago
“Boss, are you ready? The shareholders are already waiting for you in the office.” Clinton said at the end of the phone.
I stared at my wrist-watch. I was already late for the shareholders meeting.
"Get the car ready, we're leaving immediately.” I replied before ending the call.
I dressed in a tuxedo and black shiny shoes which matched my outfit.
I heaved a deep sigh before walking into the elevator. I knew for sure what the shareholders meeting was about. Those old folks just can't wait to remove me as the CEO of my Father's company.
Clinton was already waiting for me in the garage. I walked into the car and we zoomed off to the company.
On our way to work, I noticed that Clinton was very silent which is strange. He kept staring at me every now and then.
"What do you want to say?” I asked, trying to break the silence.
“N-not r-eally!” He stuttered.
“If you have anything to say, just say it!” I scowled at him.
"It’s about the shareholders meeting. The board of directors wants you to get a wife as soon as possible.” Clinton replied in a cold voice.
I heaved a deep sigh. I knew for sure that is what he wanted to say.
"Don’t worry about those old hungry folks. I'll talk about that with them when we get to the office.”
I heaved a deep sigh.
Arriving at the company, I stepped down from the car. The workers were ready waiting for my arrival. They all bowed down to me as I entered the company.
My secretary; Patricia walked up to me immediately with some files in her hands.
“The board of directors and shareholders are already waiting for you. Everything is currently in total chaos!” Patricia said, trying to catch up with me.
“Don’t worry about them. As long as our company's profit is skyrocketing, I have no business with them.” I replied putting my hands into my pocket.
I heard the noises inside the office as I walked in.
The men were fighting amongst themselves.
"I have the largest share and I am the one who has the right to say what should be done! Jason should get married as soon as possible! That is the only way we can know we have an heir for the continuation of this company!”
“There’s no need for an heir right now! Jason is too young to worry about marriage!”
That was an argument between Mr. Tom and Mr. Holland. They've been arguing about this for the past few years. I don't actually care about what they say, I'm never getting married for reasons best known to me.
“Everyone, Silent!” Alison yelled as we stood at the door.
They all turned to me immediately including the men and women. They stood up and greeted me immediately.
I took a deep breath before walking to the podium. I sat on the seat provided for me. I had to address the issue going on.
"What is going on? Why is everywhere in chaos?” I asked.
"Jason, you need to get married! We need an heir for your Father's company. At your age, your late father was already married.” Mr. Tom said as he stood up.
I nodded my head. He made a little sense, though.
“Jason, you don't need to get married so quickly. You're still too young to worry about marriage. Tom, just wants you to marry his daughter!” Mr. Holland retorted.
I stared at both of them. I knew for sure they never wanted anything good for me. Nobody in the company wants me alive. Mr. Tom wants my family's wealth while Mr. Holland wants me dead.
That has always been their plan as rumoured by Clinton.
The shareholders were divided. Some supported Mr. Tom while others supported Mr. Holland.
I decided we would cast a vote and I really regret ever doing that. The majority of the people present supported Mr. Toms. They really want me to get married as soon as possible.
"Jason, you are given only two months to find a wife! If not, the company will be handed over to your step-siblings.” Mr. Tom warned.
As much as I don't want to get married, I think I'm more afraid of handing the company over to my worthless step siblings who won't do anything other than to ruin it.
"Two months?!” Patricia exclaimed.
Everyone started murmuring too. Some considered two months was too small while some said it's still far. Nonetheless, I don't want to get married.
“Boss, two months is too close, don't you think they should adjust it a bit?” Patricia whispered in my ear.
"No, I don't think so, they should do whatever they want.” I replied.
"Okay, then.” Patricia nodded her head.
I cleared my throat to disrupt their noise.
“It’s alright, in two months it is. But for now, we should concentrate on making profit from our latest investment with K&H Tech.”
The meeting finally came to an end.
I arrived home, waiting for what would unfold in two months' time.
Everyone was pestering me to get married including my Grandma and my Mum. I guess at twenty nine they consider me old.
I went on multiple blind dates organized by Patricia in the first month but I liked none of the ladies.
They were all the same. Ambitious ladies from rich families who were more interested in money than marriage.
I kept rejecting all of them. I noticed that time was running out.
The first half of the second month is almost gone and I need a wife as soon as possible. I no longer have any choice now.
I arrived from work late at night, I entered the bathroom to take my bath but I noticed a sudden knock on my gate. I wondered who it could be because my security guard was on leave from work. He went to spend the weekend with his family.
I walked out of the bathroom half-naked. I only had my towel on my waist.
I heard the knock once again, this time around it was too loud.
I opened the gate immediately.
"Who are you and what are you looking for?!” I questioned with a frown on my face.
I noticed it was a delivery girl. She dressed in a short gown and she had her delivery suit with her. She tied her hair in a ponytail and her glasses on the ridge of her nose.
She kept staring at me with her eyes wide open. She was stunned at my sight.
“I never ordered anything!” I retorted.
“O-h, I-I am truly sorry!” She stuttered.
I slammed the door without listening to her reply.
The knock came again, this time very furios.
“What the hell does this lady want!” I yelled.
I turned to open the door.
“I think this is the right address, this is Jason's Villa right? This is the right address!” She said as she pointed at the address on the package.
I heaved a deep sigh.
"Who is that package from?” I asked.
"It says, Mrs. Jason to Jason. I think this is a package from your…” The package mistakenly fell from her hands and hit the floor.
The sound of a broken glass was heard. We knew for sure that the package inside it had broken.
“I’m truly sorry about this. I didn't know when it fell off my hands.” she cried as she bent to pick it up.
She looked very clumsy. I sighed as I stared at her as she picked it up. The wrist-watch and the wedding ring inside the package is an expensive one and a limited edition. My mum promised to send it from South Korea a few weeks ago.
“I’m truly sorry. How can I pay back?” She asked as she held the broken package in her hands.
I stared at her for a while. I think she would be of good use to me right now. I never wanted someone expensive. Someone clumsy and stupid would be of great use to me. I don't want to meet the expectations of the shareholders and my mother.
“Marry me!”
Jack's POV"You heard me right. Marry me!” I retorted. The young lady kept staring at me. She was utterly speechless."Sir,I don’t think that’s right. I don’t even know you and this is our first meeting.” She said avoiding my gaze."Yeah, that is the only way you can pay back for this. The item you just broke costs about three million dollars. I bet you can never afford that.”“Three million dollars?!” She exclaimed.I nod my head.“I bet you can not afford that even if you work for two years.” I smirked. She clutched the tip of her gown tightly. She looked very nervous.“Is there no other option? I can’t marry you. I mean this is marriage, not a joke.” She lifted her head.I stared at her for a while. She was very determined not to accept my proposal but I knew something else that would work perfectly on her. Staring at her, I saw that everything she wore looked very cheap."You don’t want to marry me, right?” I smirked."Yes!” she replied in a cold voice.“Ok
Jack's POV I picked up my pen to draft out a few things that the marriage contract would contain. They include not interfering in each other’s personal life and also the “No sex rule,” and many other essential things.“Are you done now?” Clinton asked.“Yeah, make sure you get it ready before tomorrow. The wedding will be held tomorrow.”“Tomorrow?!” Clinton exclaimed.“Yeah, tomorrow.” I replied.I noticed that Clinton didn’t like the idea at all but I don’t care what he thinks as long as he keeps the process of my marriage a secret. We arrived at the place where Eve lives. The house was quite an old one. The ceilings and surroundings looked quite old.I stepped down from the car. Clinton led me into the house. Clinton had the gifts we bought for them in his hands.Clinton knocked on the door for a few seconds. An elderly man who happened to be Eve’s father opened the door.“Who are you?” Mr. Jameson asked."Uhm, this is Jason. The CEO of JASON TECH. We’re he
EVE’s P.O.VI felt my heartbeat increase as he held me in his arms. I quickly released myself from his grip and ran out of the bathroom. I headed to my room, quickly laying on the bed and covering my head in shame. I remembered the rules in our contract. We shouldn't have any physical contact, but we had already broken that rule on the first day. This was a bad sign. I shouldn't get close to him at all.A few minutes later, I heard a knock on the door. "Who could that be?" I wondered. I stood up from the bed and headed to the living room. Jameson had already opened the door for his grandmother, Grandma Nini. Our eyes met, and he had a furious look on his face as he glared at me. I hated it every time he stared at me that way."Ohh, who do we have here?" Grandma Nini smiled excitedly, giving me a hug."Grandma, you're welcome," I smiled as she hugged me tightly."Eve, go and make some food for her. You should have done that a long time ago!" Jameson glared at me."Is that how you talk
I sat down in the hall way as I thought about what had transpired in the last few days. I had gotten married to the man of people's dreams but not mine.Growing up, I've always pictured myself as someone like Merida from Brave. She stood up to her mother even if she had to turn her into a bear to prove her point on not getting married to a man she barely knew or even marriage in general. But ofcourse, I have nothing against my parents and definitely don't want to turn them into a bear or anything close to animals but I simply wished life wasn't this way.Unfair and painstakingly hard to the poor, growing up I never really pictured myself as Cinderella who gets saved by prince charming from her wicked step mother, I always wanted to be the savior, you know bringing us to bring us out of this sad and impoverished lifestyle and I did through Jason.I became Cinderella but I didn't find prince charming and now I still have to be a maid in my own home. I got up from the floor where I sat
We soon got to the hotel and checked into our room. It was a very big suite with about two rooms and the chandelier in the living room was very pretty but standing under it made me feel like it was going to fall so I made a mental note to avoid going through it and just go about it.As soon as we got to our suite, Jason changed into a black three piece suit and left. He didn't say anything to me, he just left without a word which was very rude but it's not like I expect anything from him. I just wish he could be a little polite and not act like a stuck up teenager all the time.Ding dong...I was admiring the living room when I heard the doorbell. I went up to the door and looked into the peek hole expecting to see an hotelier waiting to tell me about room service but I was surprised to see Jade at the door.I opened the door and stared at him in confusion."I bet you're wondering why I'm here." Jade began to explain."Well, yeah." I said quietly."Uhmm, so I'm actually an intern at J
Jason's POV.I groaned for the nth time as I tried to get my mind off Eve and her grand declaration of her love for me.She couldn't possibly be in love with me, could she?Or was this simply just pay back because I yelled at her earlier. All day long, my thoughts had been about her, seeing her stare at the window during the flight and how weird I felt when I heard the man's voice earlier from her phone call. And then seeing her in that white dress that made her look like an angel and then her grand declaration while holding my hands tight.I have never stand up to old geezers in the office ever since I became a CEO in my father's company but Eve just got here and she's able to wow everyone with her little speech even Mr Tom greeted me for picking the right one and although Mr Holland didn't congratulate me or anything close, he didn't say anything rude about wanting me to marry his daughter and Alison shook my hands and gave him a smile. Alot of other shareholders came to congratulat
Eve's POV.I sighed heavily as I looked round the suite room. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to be doing this but I just had to. I know it broke one of the clauses that said I shouldn't tell anyone about what's going on between me and Jason but Jason already had someone who knew and I couldn't bear to keep a secret from Max anymore especially as my face is plastered on every part of the world as the wife of Jason Coleman, a rich business tycoon. And my parents didn't even make it any more better instead they call to ask me silly questions that are starting to get on my nerves. This contract marriage has only been a week long. I haven't even set my eyes on the so called husband and whenever I had the chance to see him, he always came home smelling like women's perfume. Not that I cared if he was having an affair but even if this was a pretend marriage, it wasn't fair if he was seeing someone else because I couldn't do that. Not just because it was in the contract but because it was w
At the movies, we got a large cup of soda and a large cup of popcorn which we ate to our fill while watching a Korean movie called 'The dude in me'.We laughed like we were long time friends and I enjoyed every bit of it.At intervals, she looked at me laughing and I couldn't help but smile bad.One time in the movie, the male lead called an older woman by her name and Jason's mom told me her real name was 'Mia' and I could call her that if calling her mom was awkward. After that, we went for a second round but the genre was different. Instead of a comedy, we watched a tragic movie where the female lead died and we cried like kids. It felt like I was spending time with Max but Max wasn't a female and Mia's older so it was different. It was kinda overwhelming but cool. I loved it. I enjoyed it.And soon the movie was over and we stood outside while she called her driver over. We hadn't realized that rain was falling while we were watching the movie so it was kinda shocking when we cam
