Chapter 6

Lucia couldn't believe what she was hearing. Was her ears malfunctioning? She most likely didn't listen to the man while he was busily speaking to her.

She tried to reprocess everything the man had told her but found out she came up with nothing tangible.

The fact that she was a poor and struggling student didn't mean she had to take every dirt that was thrown at her by people who think they are the good of this world.

She looked at the man before her with a deathly frown. She felt something swirling in her as the anger welled up in her. Her eyes were gradually turning yellow and her ears had become sensitive to sounds.

She quickly caught control of herself and clenched her fists willing the claws which were coming out to retract. She had closed her eyes while steeling herself and as she flashed them open, the man before her was done talking.

She didn't want to wish for anything to happen to him now since they were in a public place and Jackson had always told her to be mindful of where to use her powers.

She looked at him sitting on a chair while she was standing and saw him scribble something down on a piece of paper. She peered closely at it and saw that it was his contact numbers.

She made no move to pick up the note and seeing her reluctance, he picked up the paper and shredded it into a tiny pieces. He then dismissed her and she walked wearily to the counter.

"You don't have to give me a response today. You can do so tomorrow. I'm not about to be accused of forcing you to make a decision under pressure."

Roberto told her, smirking. He had seen the fury in her eyes and he thought that served her right. She could only get angry. She didn't have any power or whatever to deal with him.

The nerve of her to have shoved him into the dirt in the presence of the more than three hundred students. He needs to get back at her and this was his chance.

He had felt utterly disgraced and humiliated. He hadn't forgotten how utterly embarrassed he was on that day, however, he had decided not to take rash action on her against the advice of his friends.

He had gone back and planned his revenge against her. Nobody had the right to be arrogant around him. He was the undisputed king when it came to being arrogant.

He had taken time to investigate her. He learnt she worked on a coffee cafe for a meagre amount of money at the end of the month. He knew people like her would rather work for money.

That was why he was offering her such job with a staggering amount of money. No matter how hard one's principles are, when the right amount of money was involved, their resolve would surely waiver.

She didn't have anything worthwhile. Infact, he was very sure that all the money she had in her name wasn't enough for him to have a hair cut yet she was behaving arrogantly at him.

He'd make sure to cut her feathers and leave her bare. He would kill her not physically but emotionally and psychologically. She would find it hard to raise her head and shoulders high after he was done dealing with her.

Roberto's eyes glinted with hatred and excitement at the thought of what he was about to do to her. He watched her as she went to the counter to resume her duties.

Lucia was torn between protecting her dignity and a thousand dollars that would solve a lot of things in her life. She would be able to pay for some small time luxuries and also not be too pressed for money.

She debated within herself what was left of her dignify after being toyed around by Hades. She felt the panic attack coming and quickly shit the thought out of her mind.

Hades was a forbidden topic to her and the safety of her mental health.

She contemplated it for a while before deciding to give him a response the next day, as she needed to give it more thought.

Even if he was arrogant, he had done all for her by proposing something that would help her make more money.

"Alright! Whatever you choose, you are left to your own choices but don't forget to call me to inform me of your decision." He said to her as he signaled to another waiter.

He watched as the waiter hurried down to him and it pleased Roberto who was used to it all his life. This was what he meant when he said she wasn't his match in terms of money, arrogance and sassiness.

Now, he would oppress her further by throwing away the amount he was offering her. Roberto watched as the waiter got to him and bowed slightly to show him respect.

"What would you like to order, sir?"

"I have no idea.. ehm... what's your best meal here?" He asked looking around.

"Grilled chicken and rice!" The waiter answered enthusiastically.

Roberto was a high profile client and dining at their restaurant was sure to boost their sales.

His patronage would make other more affluent heirs visit their cafe, that's why he was do eager to satisfy him and leave a good impression on him.

"But I thought this is a coffee shop?" Roberto asked with a frown, wondering if the waiter was making a mistake.

"Yes sir, but just this week we decided to expand into a restaurant." He told him with a smile.

"Okay, so have much Is it?" He asked, reaching for the debit cardthat was lodged in the breast pocket of his jacket.

"That's twenty dollars per plate sir!" The waiter informed him again.

"Okay, I would be getting a plate for everyone here! Take whatever you want."

He said as he dropped ten hundred dollars bills on the table, and then stood up.

He glanced at the counter with mocking smile on his lips. So much trying to prove she was better than him and refusing his advances. What a fool she was.

"Wow! Thank you very, sir!" The waiter said in excitement while Lucia watched from the counter with a lucid grimace.

"You're welcome...and don't forget to call me! My number is on one of the notes." He replied as Lucia wondered who he was referring to.

The waiter had only thanked him for his generosity and didn't have a pending discussion with him.

By this time, Roberto had already swagged out of the door and walked to his car. Lucia's smouldering gaze hit his broad back like a laser beam from a machine gun.

The staff gathered around, staring at the money on the table. A thousand dollars. They were all surprised as they never knew someone would decide to give out a thousand dollars to the staff of a restaurant.

They would never make that much from their six hours shift at the coffee shop. Not even when they decide to work off their asses without taking a break. This was real generosity.

"Do you know him from before?" One of the waitresses asked with a stupid grin that Infuriated Lucia.

They had all noticed him speaking to her earlier and this made most of them assume things. They all thought she was one lucky girl.

"It's none of your business!" She snapped, with a frown etched on her face, and then walked away from the counter.

They all gathered together and whispered some incoherent words as they continued to stare at her.

"What's wrong with her?" The one who had asked her if she knew Roberto asked rhetorically.

"I have no idea... You know, I think she's saucy... Because what else would explain that she was so cold to that billionaire?" Another one who was an infamous flirt among them piped up.

"I think so as well! If I was the one, I would with gladness, give myself to him." The youngest of them all said, giggling all over.

"You know poor people are the most arrogant." The last one said. It was an open secret that she detested Lucia and all that had to do with her.

She never let go of any opportunity that would place her above the latter. Her hatred towards Lucia extended to Jackson as they were best of friends.

Lucia who was writing something in a book raised her head and gave them the devil's stare. She had to thank her wolf hearing even though they had been whispering silently about her.

She could hear it clearly bloke they wer talking right beside her ear.

"You can keep talking about me for all I care. But you do realise that I can hear all you've said, right." She told them after rewarding them with a devil's stare.

They dispersed their gathering amidst frowns. They were all surprised at how she had managed to hear all they had been saying even though their voices had bee reduced to the barest minimum.

About two or three of them concluded that she had only taken a guess while that she was merely bluffing. They all collided 6 Jackson who was on his way to the counter to meet with Lucia.

Lucia stood up from her seat at the counter and headed towards the table Roberto had vacated and placed the money on. She shuffled through the notes and found the one with his numbers on it.

She brought out her phone and quickly copied the number before storing bit safely among her contacts. She shrugged her shoulders as she walked back to the counter. She had just settled down when she sensed Jackson behind her.

Jackson had heard the ladies discussion about how Lucia had given Roberto a cold shoulder and how she had claimed to have heard everything they were discussing a out her. He had merely smiled at their ignorance.

They never knew that Lucia here was a powerful witch cum wolf who had the power and ability to destroy them with just a thought in her heart.

She was just learning to accept her powers so making a wrong move could be disastrous. He chuckled at he imagined their reactions when they ever heard of werewolf hearing.

Jackson had gotten to the restaurant's main room and he walked up to Lucia, tickling her gently on the ribs. She bent slightly sideways in whatever side he tickled as she laughed hard.

He continued tickling her as he could sense the sadness emanating from her as he appr6 her. Thanks to werewolf sense of smell.

"Stop it, Jackson!" She requested as a peal of laughter rang from her lips. She was already hiccuping from having to laugh so hard.

"Really? You want me to stop! Don't you do it to me as well?" He asked, tickling her more and more. He was happy he was able to lift her spirit.

He didn't want her to know he could sense her moods as this would make her develop a new way of disguising herself. That was how powerful she was.

She could make you feel different vinbes from her without you knowing her true feelings. He didn't want that because no matter how powerful or highly placed you are in life, you need a true friend.

"Please, I'm begging you to stop!" She finally conceded defeat.
