Chapter 22 Rising from the Ashes

“I’m home!” Sonya entered the house and put her car key on the key holder after locking the front door. The room was quiet but the clinking sounds of glassware with spoons and forks appeared from the dining room.

“Sonya, please…” there was a voice of Auntie Caroline from the dining room.

Sonya rubbed her forehead and sniffed. She rolled her eyes and puffed harshly. She walked to the dining room with her pathetic steps.

She saw Auntie Caroline taking a seat and having dinner with Mr. Jackson.

“You don’t have dinner with us?” Auntie Caroline stared at her and she paused to eat the soup from her plate.

Sonya sighed. “I had some meals with Frank today! I’m full.”

Auntie Caroline still kept staring at her and wiped the tip of her lips with a white serviette. She poured some tea into an empty cup.

“Frank?” She lifted one of her eyebrows that were brushed neatly and fine-shaded by a brown-colored eyebrow pencil. “Would you mind having a cup of tea with us, though?”
