Jealous Mates

***Keira's POV**

I noticed how Fred instantly went pale when I told him about having a mate.

“Fred, are you okay?”

“Huh?” He muttered while looking up at me. Immediately, he picked up the glass of juice on the table and gulped it down his throat at one go.

“Keira, I have to be honest that I was quite taken aback when I found out you already have a mate. I was truly looking forward to a beautiful relationship with you, I just confess.”

“I understand what you mean, Fred, but I believe that having a mate is a serious matter, and it means there's no way I can accept you even if I wanted to.”

“You're right, I guess I came late. But then, this doesn't stop us from being friends, or does it?”

“Of course not. You're still my friend, any time, and any day.”

Fred smiled broadly, and I'm also glad that I was able to convince him. He's a good friend whom I really do not want to lose in my life.
