I was surprised by Cain’s reaction. I had not expected him to have any problem with me judging his past. I mean, he couldn’t even remember the number himself, and if I asked him to name some of the women, I bet he couldn’t even do that.

Now, of course, I wasn’t going to dictate how anyone lived their lives. It was completely up to them, but that didn’t mean that I wanted an alphawhore for a mate. We could have preferences, but Cain certainly wasn’t mine. He might look like Carter, except for the difference in build now and this tiny scar on Cain’s cheek, but they were like night and day. However, his reaction was certainly not what I expected.

“Why?” I asked. “Why does it matter if I do?”

“Maybe because if you judge me, it means you look down on me, and it will be harder for you to let me close,” he said. “I don’t want my mate not to like me. You don’t have to love me right away, but I don’t want you not to like me.”
