After showering, I was sure I would still find Willow in our bedroom, but she was gone. I went to dress before I began searching the house for her. She had to be somewhere inside.

I walked downstairs, where I heard voices, and I followed the sound to a living room, where a new she-wolf had appeared, sitting in front of Willow. I remembered her, she was hard not to take notice of because she always dressed so differently. Yet the sight of Eva did not make me happy.

“What’s going on here?” I asked.

“I invited a friend over,” Willow told me calmly.

“Without discussing it with me?”

“Excuse me?” Willow asked offended. “She is my friend.”

“Willow,” I sighed, shaking my head as my mate didn’t understand the seriousness of her actions.

“Welcome home, Cain,” Eva retorted, offended as well by my words.
