Forty seven

“This is so messed up,” I muttered to myself as I paced around my room. Emma had just shut the door in my face, and I didn’t know what to do right now.

It was just my rotten luck that Amber had come and spoiled all the plans I had with Emma. And God, Emma... Something tells me that it’s not over. She looked hurt when I said those things to her—that it wasn’t her business—especially just after I told her I wanted her in my life. I feel like a fool.

I turned and tossed around on my bed until sleep found me in the early hours of the morning. I barely got any sleep and stayed in bed for a few minutes more to rest. I had some much-needed extra shut-eye for thirty minutes before I stood up and walked to my bathroom to have my bath. After washing up, I walked to the kitchen to steam up a hot cup of coffee.

I put on my suit jacket as the coffee boiled up. I couldn’t help but let my eyes move to Emma’s door occasionally, as I hoped she would come out soon. I instinctively filled two cup
