After Drake left, Sarah and Caroline were stunned. Sarah always detested Drake. She drugged his father Roland and married him. Roland too married her, taking responsibility for his actions.
Roland always loved his first wife. If it's not for the drug, he wouldn't have spent a night with Sarah all those years ago, and marry her.
He knows she was already pregnant by the time he married her. It was simply not possible for her to be three months pregnant when he met her for only a month.
