A look of hesitation

When Emma raised her eyelids to the light of dawn, she saw Zane sitting at the edge of the bed, his entire focus on his phone, and she crawled over to him, hugging him from the back and resting her chin on his shoulder.

Giving her a side-eye, the corners of Zane’s lips pulled upward slightly, and then he mumbled, “Morning, love.”

“Good Morning,” Emma whispered, seeing that he was staring at G-map, and she felt a sense of worry.

During the entire movie last night, he kept spacing out while staring at his phone, and she didn't want to ask until he said something, but now she was curious, knowing that all this while he had been staring at a particular location.

“What’s at Coldstone cemetery?” Emma mumbled, unable to hold in the question.

“My mother,” Zane said, allowing the emotion that came with his response to weigh on him.

For a moment neither of them said a word and Emma was a bit confused to fully understand what he meant.
