Past remains in the past

I cried in his arms as he hugged me. I hurt the poor innocent bit who did nothing but wait for me for years. I broke his heart and broke our promise. Although I did not have memories of our past together, his pain was raw and displayed openly in his eyes as much as he tried concealing it.

' If there is a next time, I hope things won't turn out this way and I can be your bride.' I said Inwardly, wiping my tears.

" He loves you and chose your happiness over his. The best way to repay him is to be happy Maya." Gideon murmured into my ears and I nodded.

I agreed with his words. The best I could do is try to be happy and prove to him that his sacrifice was not in vain.

Gideon guided me to the cabin and helped me settle on the bed. He walked to the bathroom and came back with a wet towel.

He wiped my face clean and I couldn't help but smile at his tenderness.
