Kylin Jenner, is a business woman who lives in high standards and she’s also close friends with Alex. She’d showed up in the Russia for an important project Wolfs company was hosting.

As she made her dramatic entrance into Alex office, she flashed him a sweet, broad, smile waving flirtously as Alex spared her a short glance before turning back to his work.

“Where is Maya?” Alex muttered under his breath. It wasn’t as though he was missing her presence or anything of the sort. No, he didn’t just want to be one in his office right now with Kylin.

But since that was the case, he’d get down to business. Alex got up from his chair with the documents in his hands as he walked over to Kylin and dumped them in her hands. “You need to know all this for the project” .He said keeping it short.

Kylin looked flabbergasted and hurt. “Is that all you have to say to me?”

“Yes”. Just then Maya walked in and Alex couldn’t be more grateful. “Maya, I’m glad you are here. See Miss Jenner out”

Maya looked from Alex to Kylin, unsure what to do with the tension so high uo in the air but fortunately, Kylin had spared her the pressure by telling her that she would see herself out.

Kylin turned to face Maya dumping the documents in her hands. “Take this and follow me out”

“Why?”. Alex questioned.

“Why? She’s your slave, is she not? I’m just letting her do her job”

Alex chuckled. “You seem to be mistaken because she’s new. She’s not my slave, she’s my temporary personal assistant “

“That’s the same thing”

“In other words”. Alex got uobfrom his seat once more, taking slow strides towards Maya as he took the documents from her hands and dumped it back into Kylian’s. “She takes orders from only me”

Humiliated, Kylian bolted out of his office without looking back as Alex turned to face Maya with a cold expression on his face and saying sternly. “What you did back then, don’t ever do it again”

Maya furrowed her brow, confused. What was he talking about? “What did I…”

“You talked back at me and after saying your piece, you walked out on me. Don’t ever do that again or I swear, I will make you regret it. If you think you’re so smart to know what the clients want, then start up your own company “. Alex moved to his seat unfeeling.

Truth be told, even though Alex slightly admired how Maya was willing to put up with his antics to provide for her family, she dates not cross the line in his territory.

Maya moved to seat by her desk as she patiently waited for the day to go by faster so that she could clock out and call it a day.

Feeling time go by slowly, she excused herself from Alex office as she went to see Micheal.

Micheal flashed her a smile, seeing her coming to meet him first and not the other way around. “To what do I owe this pleasure?”

“I’m just upset right now and need someone to talk too. Are you busy?”

He shook his head.”I was about to die from not getting any work to do”.

Maya burst out into fits of laughter. “I wish I could say the same. I’ve just been busy with work all day and getting an ear full over the smallest things”

Micheal tilted his head, thinking. “Could it be that day?”

“What day?”

“What’s today’s date?”

Maya brought out her phone to check. “August 3rd, why?”

“That’s right. It’s boss birthday “

Maya squeezed her face not getting the point Micheal was trying to make. “Is that why he’s being highly unrelatable?”

“It’s also the day his mother died”.Micheal continued. “He’s always like this around this time of the month. Although, it’s no excuse for his behavior.”

Just then, Maya felt a wave of emotion wash over her. “Anyways, try and pardon him for today, okay?”. Micheal encouraged.

Maya nodded her head. She could only imagine what Alex must be passing through. He couldn’t even celebrate his own birthday because it was filled with such a painful memory.

As Maya made her way back to the office, she saw Alex staring down at a picture frame in his hands.

When he looked up upon hearing her footsteps, she gasped as she saw tears evident in his eyes.

Alex quickly dabbed his tears as he regained his composure, ready to pretend as if it was nothing but Maya had quickly rusher over to his side. “Are you okay? Should i-“

“What do you think someone as poor as you can possibly do for me?”He asked curtly.

Maya blinked her eyes, twice. “What?”

Alex got up from his chair, looking at her with sharp, piercing eyes. “Don’t be mistaken. I’m your boss and you are nothing but a mere fill in. So what exactly do you think with your little brain that you can do for me?”

Words failed Maya as she couldn’t believe what she was hearing. She tried to find ber voice but she couldn’t as she was at the brink of tears.

She had to accept that she was wrong this time. She should have just ran out of his office when she saw his tears and spared herself the insults.

“You se ? You can’t do anything for me. So just do your work and leave when you are done “Alex snarled brushing past her, hitting her but not caring nonetheless as he walked out of his office slamming the door loudly behind him.

Maya wipped the tears that threatened to roll down her cheeks as she headed to her desk, ready to call it a day. She had had enough of all Alex drama.

She glanced at the clock and upon seeing that it was already 7:40pm, she knew she wouldn’t get into trouble if she called it a day now.

Although her work required to stay by Alex side until he was ready to clock out, but he sure as hell had crossed the line this time and she couldn’t stand the mere thought of being next to him for even another second.

Maya bolted out of the office as she walked out of the main front door of the company, oblivious to Micheal who was behind her and calling out to her.

She’d decided to walk home so that she’d feel better before her mothwr or her sister would notice that she’d been crying.

As Maya took a turn into a corner yhat led to her house, A man in his mid-twenties stood infront of her, blocking her way. He didn’t look homeless, but he did look rough.

“Who are you?”. Maya asked partially scared.

“Why is a pretty girl like you crying all alone at night? Who hurt you? Tell me”He asked, chuckling.

“Are you drunk? Get lost before I call the police”. Maya threatened slowly reaching out into her bag to bring out her phone.

She was completely oblivious to the second man whi was slowly approaching her from behind with a long stick in his hand.

“Mister, I’m going to-“. Maya was cut short as the stick came in contact with the back of her head, rendering her unconscious as she fell to the ground with a loud thud.

“Are you sure she’s the girl though?” The second man asked the first.

“I’m sure” he replied nodding his head. “She’s Alex personal assistant “
