Chapter five: being punished for our lateness

(Cathy's pov)

We were walking side by side quietly to the assembly block

The silence wasn't comfortable but it wasn't uncomfortable either

I wanted to say something but that was when we heard a loud bell ring indicating that the assembly is starting

"I think we need to hasten our paces" I said before I started running like my life depended on it

We got there a few moments later

Maxwell was standing in front of the hall and when we got to him he made a 'you are late' sign with his lips

We entered the hall but luckily it was just starting

"I welcome you all to your first year at the National college for shifters" madam Debua started addressing the crowd

"Your classes will be starting tomorrow by 8am, your timetable is being sent to your email as we speak"

And a moment after she said that all the phones of the first year students made a bing sound indicating that we had received the mail

"Classes will be over by 2pm as indicated in your timetable... you are to be in your rooms by 9pm, there should be no loitering around sleep hours or else you'll be given a twelve hour detention... many of you will find your mates at this early stages of your life and when you do you are not allowed to mate with them.. you can get to know each other go on dates inside the school walls" she stopped to look around

And I look at my mate beside me, I haven't even gotten his name argh!!!

Why am I being so nervous?

the goosebumps are becoming unbearable

Just looking at him stirs lots of emotions in me, this mate bond is becoming quite annoying

He turns to look my way and I focused one something else immediately praying that he didn't catch me staring at him

He is really cute to say the least, 'focus Cathy' I scolded myself

"You can go to your rooms that'll be all for now" ms Debua said turning around to leave

The speech was over and I didn't even listen to what she was saying

I stopped listening after she talked about mates

I turned to my side to look at him but I caught him staring at me

"I'm Nathaniel but you can call me Nath" he said with a polite smile, I think it was a blush or maybe it's just my imagination

"I'm Cathy" I replied forcing a smile and trying to hide my blush

We turned around to leave but was stopped by a voice I recognized right away

"Where do you guys think that you are going?" Maxwell asked with a questioning look

I just rolled my eyes knowing what's to come next

"You came late" he continued

"I-it wasn't intentional I swear" I said with puppy eyes

"Yes I know, seeing that you made a knew friend" he said while looking towards Nath

"Let's just skip to the part where we get punished" I said not wanting the situation to get more embarrassing

"Ohh right! You guys will be cleaning the floors for the rest of the day" he stated our punishment

"What!!! It's my first day in school and you want me to clean the floors already???" I said pouting playfully

Nath is just standing there watching me and somehow he finds it amusing

"Ain't you going to say something? We are getting punished" I said staring at him questioningly 

"I know but you look adorable when you do that so I decided to not say anything" he replied without any sign of shame

"When I do what?" I asked

"Plead" he replied

I just rolled my eyes then started walking towards the cleaning equipment store to grab a mob and bucket

I grabbed my cleaning requirement and left the store and Nath runs out of the store with his and follows behind me

"So Cathy, which pack are you from" he asked

Oh no, the inevitable questions are beginning to come in

"Blue crescent" I replied

"Ain't you going to ask about mine?" He said expecting my response

"It's indicated on your uniform, you are from the blood moon pack so there's no need for me to ask" I replied bluntly but I feel terrible for it

"I'm sorry" I said because my conscience was killing me

"It's okay" he replied with a hint of sadness in his voice

"It's just that I am not used to people trying to get to know me... I am usually the girl that nobody cares about enough to even ask for her name" I said 

"All this mate stuffs and having someone that wants to care about me, is all new to me" I said reducing my voice by a monotone

He looked at me for a while before he said "I understand and I won't push you into telling me anything you don't want to"

"It's okay you can ask me anything you want to know" I said with an assuring smile

"Where in the hierarchy are you" he asked

"I'm an omega" I said proudly just like what Maxwell said

He looked at me with surprise

"Then how is your wolf white?" He asked with curiosity

Come to think of it I don't really know, my dad wasn't an Alpha or anything and he sure wasn't a very high official in our pack, he was just close friends with the Alpha and the Alpha trusted him

But that doesn't make him one

"I don't know, I am as confused as you are" I replied truthfully

"How did you end up as an omega?" He asked

"It's a long story but after my dad died I and my mom were forced to live as omegas" I replied not wanting to go into all the details

He just made an 'oh' sign with his mouth

He didn't ask anymore questions about me and I was so grateful for that

"So how about you?" I asked

"Me?" He asked a little bit confused

And I nodded

"I am the third son of the Alpha of the blood moon pack and I am going to take on the Alpha title after my dad" he said 

I was kinda confused so I asked "why are you the one to be the next Alpha? How about your older brothers?"

"Non of them wants to be Alpha so they pass on the responsibility to me" he answered with a little bit of sadness like he wasn't happy about being Alpha but I didn't ask about it

The rest of our punishment was done in silence and when we were done we kept the cleaning equipment back where they were and started walking back to the freshmen block

He walked me up to me room

I was about to go into the room but I turned around to say "good bye Nath, today was fun I enjoyed myself even if we spent it mobbing floors" I walked back to him and was giving him a hug when I heard a bitchy voice behind us

"Can't you guys do that somewhere else?" A girl scuffed with anger then she walked pass me and went into the room that I'll be staying so I assumed that she was my roommate

"I think you are going to have a bitchy roommate" Nath leaned forward to whisper into my ear and we both laughed

We said our good byes and I proceeded to enter the room knowing that my troubles are just about to begin.

Author's note: hey guys how did you see the chapter? I am sorry that the romance is a bit off, I am single and I haven't had a fair share of a good relationship haha. In other words I am inexperienced when it comes to relationships
