Sixty Nine

The maids spent thirty minutes cleaning up Naevia's injury. Once they were done, they told Naevia they were going to get her dinner.

Naevia hummed without responding with a word. The maids took everything they had brought and exited the room.

Naevia stayed quiet on the bed, lost in her thoughts. Her mind wandering around on her shocking present and unforgettable past.

She thought mostly of the past with her mother. All the beautiful memories she shared with her before she died. Naevia felt so lonely. It almost seemed like she was the only one left in this world.

"All my life has been a lie. I thought I had a lovely father and a wonderful husband. But all that was a lie," she said to herself, feeling hurt.

Just as she was thinking of the betrayal, Naevia thought of her mother. When she was little, her mother had given her something to keep her close to her heart.

It was an old locket. A silver old locket. Naevia's mother had given it to Naevia when she was still a little girl.
